Forever Young BBL®

Forever Young BBL® is a high-impact treatment that resets your skin to reverse the signs of aging and improve skin concerns. This isn’t just a beauty treatment, it’s a preventive regimen that protects your skin from the progressive effects of sun damage and aging.

How Does Forever Young BBL® Work?

BroadBand Light (BBL) is more commonly known as the FotoFacial (PhotoFacial). It is an innovative light-based technology that sets new standards for treating skin conditions associated with aging, active lifestyles, and sun damage. BBL energy allows our clinicians to precisely treat skin concerns such as fine lines and wrinkles, age and sun spots, small facial veins, and rosacea.

The energy delivered to the skin by the BroadBand Light gently heats the top layers of the skin, stimulating the development of collagen, elastin, and new skin cells. These new, healthy cells and beneficial proteins restore the skin to a more vibrant and even complexion, replacing cells that have been damaged by sun exposure or the natural aging process. Not only does this treatment benefit the appearance of the skin, but it also prevents further skin aging and sun damage.

A study by a leading dermatology team at Stanford University showed that this treatment series promotes the gene expression pattern of young skin. Your DNA is unique to your body, and certain genes express themselves (turn on or off) based on factors like aging and external circumstances. As our skin matures, the genes within our skin cells are programmed to express themselves differently than they did when we were younger, leading to noticeable changes in the appearance of our skin. Forever Young BBL® technology changes the expression of genes associated with aging, causing them to return to a more youthful state.

Learn More About Forever Young BBL®

In preparation for Forever Young BBL®, you will be asked to avoid tanning creams for ten days before your treatment and avoid sun exposure for three weeks. The procedure typically takes around a half-hour, but the exact time depends on your needs and the size of the area being treated.

During the treatment, you will feel a warm sensation as the BroadBand Light works and is absorbed by the targeted areas of the skin. As the light pulses, you may experience a feeling similar to a gentle rubber band snapping. The treatment is non-invasive and is well tolerated by most people.

Advanced Training

The team at Shine MD has undergone extensive and advanced training with the BBL laser. Having trained with Dr. Patrick Bitter himself, our providers have hours of didactic training and clinical experience. We are knowledgeable on the functions of BBL laser treatments and are well-equipped to provide you with an effective and safe treatment plan. Our trained staff members are informed on how to expertly use the BroadBand Light treatments to their fullest potential, giving you the opportunity to experience the maximum level of benefits.

You are likely to experience skin changes as a result of the treatment, so some downtime can be expected. After the treatment, you will be asked to avoid exercise, caffeine or alcohol for 24 hours. These things can cause increased blood flow to the face, which can then cause treated blood vessels to reappear after the treatment.

The amount of downtime necessary after a Forever Young BBL® treatment depends on your personal comfort level. The healing process is not painful or difficult, but you are likely to experience some discoloration and visible changes as the skin repairs.

Every person’s threshold for social downtime is different, and you should factor your lifestyle into your downtime expectations. The clinicians at Shine MD will also communicate with you to create a customized treatment plan based on your schedule and timeline. Depending on your skin condition and goals, multiple treatments may be recommended. Additional treatments can be completed four weeks apart.

The BBL Forever Young® treatment can improve the appearance of aging skin, and decrease unwanted skin pigment, redness, and blood vessels. It is also shown to improve the overall tone and texture of the skin.

The treatment is also preventative, and it is well established that patients who get regular BBL treatments maintain skin health and delay skin aging while simultaneously correcting pigment and treating dermatological conditions.

Forever Young BBL® can improve:

  • Skin laxity
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Pigmented lesions, such as sunspots, melasma, and hyperpigmentation
  • Facial veins and redness
  • Rosacea

After a Forever Young BBL® treatment, it will take approximately 1-2 weeks for the results to become apparent. The results will improve as the skin continues to heal, with the most visible results after 4-6 weeks.

You may be a good candidate for Forever Young BBL® if you have age or sun spots, visible facial veins, fine lines, uneven skin tone, skin texture, or rosacea. Forever Young BBL is used with caution in patients with melasma, and only as a targeted treatment after a discussion with the team about risks and benefits. Other lasers such as the Moxi® or Halo™ are better options to improve pigment related to melasma.

However, some patients with rosacea, facial blood vessels, or heavy sunspots may choose to perform localized spot treatments to address these concerns.

BBL treatments can be combined with other laser options such as Moxi® or Halo™. Find out if Forever Young BBL® is the right treatment option for you by making a consultation with one of our clinical staff members.

  • If you have had treatment for pigment, you are likely to get darkening of spots and also crusting and scaling. This indicates an effective treatment and takes 1-2 weeks to resolve. Do not pick or remove these spots.
  • If you have blistering, notify our care team. Apply antibiotic ointment or aquaphor to the area to keep it moisturized.
  • For skin care, you will use a mild skin care product such as Vivier Hexxam, Cerave or Cetaphil until your skin has settled down, up to one week. Avoid topical skin care products containing retinol, salicylic acid or glycolic acid for one week.
  • Use moisturizer and sunscreen consistently after your treatments.
  • You may wear make up if there is no blistering or compromise in the skin barrier.
