How Does AviClear ™ Work?

AviClear targets acne at the source. This revolutionary laser treatment uses a 1726nm wavelength to selectively target and down regulate the sebaceous glands. Acne forms when sebum, the oily substance on your skin, combines with dead skin cells and clogs your pores. Overproduction of sebum by the sebaceous glands is one of the main mechanisms of acne. Sebum creates an ideal environment for bacteria to grow, causing inflammation which leads to painful and cystic acne. The AviClear laser damages the sebocytes and suppresses sebum production.

After the treatment, you will produce less oil and your acne will get better and stay better.

Significant results can be seen in three quick 30-minute treatment sessions over 3 months. AviClear has been shown to provide lasting clearance.There is minimal downtime and you can resume your normal activities fairly soon after a treatment.

The AviClear laser treatment is safe and comfortable. Your skin will be washed and cleaned thoroughly prior to the treatment. The treatment involves pulses of light on your skin. During these pulses, you might feel a slight snapping sensation on your skin. AviClear is equipped with exclusive AviCool™ sapphire skin cooling and sensory controls that maintain your skin’s temperature during treatment for a more comfortable experience. Depending on their tolerance and willingness for a treatment, patients as young as 14 or 15 can receive treatments with parental and personal consent.

There is minimal downtime with AviClear Treatments. Your skin may be slightly red and inflamed after the treatment and a flare up of acne can occur after your treatments. You can resume your normal activities shortly after your session.

You can expect a progressive improvement in your acne over the course of three treatments, one month apart.

AviClear can be used on adolescent and adult patients, affected by mild, moderate and severe acne.

AviClear is an ideal treatment option for patients who have concerns or medical issues with taking medications. It is a perfect treatment for those who have done isotretinoin in the past, with acne that continues to reoccur. Patients with any form of acne that has caused social or emotional distress, scarring, pigmentation, redness or keloid scars. All skin types and skin tones can be treated. AviClear has not been studied for safety in pregnancy so it cannot be performed on pregnant patients.
